Energy Savings and Upgrades What is the aim of an Energy Performance Certificate? An Energy Performance Certificate details the energy efficiency and environmental impact of a property. It provides an energy efficiency rating and an environmental rating in terms of carbon emissions for a property, on a scale from A - G, similar to domestic appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators, where A is most efficient and G is least efficient. Emissions Efficiency
Each certificate provides an indication of estimated costs for space and water heating and lighting, based on standardised assumptions about occupancy, heating patterns and geographical locations, together with appropriate energy efficiency suggestions selected from a standard set of recommendations to enable cost effective means for improvement. In effect helping to lower fuel bills and improve energy efficiency. The EPC also lists the potential rating of the building if all the cost effective upgrades were installed as recommended.
